This time: My bella vita – Live and travel in calabria
1) Please introduce yourself (Name, Location, Age, where do you come from)
Howdy! I’m Cherrye Moore, a Texas-born freelance writer and bed and breakfast owner
2) Which countries/cities have you lived in?
I lived in southeast Texas through college, did a stint in Orlando, Florida, moved to Paris, France-where I met my future husband, moved back to Texas and now live happily in southern Italy.
3) What is your blog about?
My blog is all about living and traveling in Calabria. I write a weekly Travel Tip Tuesday column , feature monthly recipes, discuss owning and operating a bed and breakfast, highlight other expat-owned businesses and generally talk about what it is like to live in Calabria.
4) Why are you blogging? Do you have any goals with it?
Like many expats, my blog began as a way to communicate with family and friends back in the states. Over the last three years, it has evolved from a “what-I-did-today” journal into what I hope is a valuable resource for people interesting in living or traveling to Calabria.

5) Your favorite Italian meal?
Where do I start? I am a gelato-aholic … although I am not sure ice cream constitutes a meal in any country.
Besides that, some of my favorite Italian dishes are Pasta Puttanesca, Pasta Amatriciana and well, pretty much any other pasta dish. I also love the eggplant and chili peppers we have here in Calabria.
6) What is your favorite Italian song?
A few years ago my husband and I were testimoni in a friend’s wedding. They karaoked to “Sarà Perchè Ti Amo” by Ricci e Poveri. It was one of the first Italian songs I learned and it remains one of my favorite feel-good songs to this day.
7) Do you have recommended links concerning the subject of your blog or Italy in general?
We have a fantastic expats in Italy blogging community. I regularly read their blogs to catch up on how they are doing and to get different insights into living in Italy. My favorites blogs are all listed here. I always recommend Why Go Italy as a starting point for my friends who are traveling to Italy. The author (Jessica) is highly researched and well-traveled in Italy and offers information on just about anything you’d want to know about traveling in the bel paese.
8) Anything to add?
Thank you for letting me share a little bit about My Bella Vita and Il Cedro Bed and Breakfast with your readers. I hope they will expand their interest in Italy as far south as Calabria and get the opportunity to experience some of our simple Italian authenticity that makes Calabria special.
